Artist Statement

​

I reside in Northern England which is full of historical sites and beautiful landscapes.

I make art in order to explore the 'dark sublime' moments that are ever present.

​I have a particular artistic curiosity in exploring the following themes: 

 

• Mystery  

• Transience 

• Beauty

 

I feel that perpetuating 'mysteriousness' within the image assists in promoting novel ways of 'looking'.

 

I work in a range of materials including oils, acrylics and photography.

Brief biography

​

David was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. He has had a passion for Fine Art since his formative years and he graduated with a Fine Art BA (Honours) degree in 1987.​​

 

David worked as a commercial portrait photographer and as a videographer in the music industry before concentrating upon his own Fine Art (His CV also includes multiple postgraduate qualifications).

​

​​​To complement his personal visual arts practice David studied Art History at Oxford University, England.

He has also presented 'key note addresses' at several national conferences and taught in UK universities on a range of diverse topics.

​In addition, between 2022 and 2024, he completed an academic study of  "Western Esotericism".

 

​He currently runs a successful studio in the North East of England. 

 

​He has exhibited internationally and across the UK. 

 

His work is held in numerous private collections.

​
